Towards attaining these goals, we promote responsible dog ownership by educating the public in the selection, care and training of dogs. Founded as a non-political organization in 1987, SPDR works cooperatively with breeders, animal shelters, breed clubs, and individuals to accomplish SPDR’s purpose. Name*Enter your full nameTerms of Foster Volunteer AgreementI hereby acknowledge the following policies and agree to abide by them during the entire time I am fostering dogs for SPDR.Agree to each item below* Agreed: I understand that my role is solely as a temporary home, and that the placement of any dogs I foster will be conducted by the Breed Rep. It is the Breed Rep's job to review and interview potential adopters. Agreed: I will immediately relinquish this dog, upon request, to a representative of SPDR Agreed: I will remember in all my dealings with the public as a foster volunteer that I represent SPDR, and the the public will consider my words and actions to be representative of the attitudes and positions of SPDR as an organization. I understand that as an individual, I am not authorized to speak for SPDR, nor can I enter into any agreements for SPDR; any such activity will be referred to the Board of Directors Agreed: I have read and understand the SPDR mission, and will not undertake any actions that could be considered inconsistent with the mission. If I engage in activities of a political or controversial nature they will only be done as an individual, separate from any association with SPDR. Agreed: I understand that I am personally responsible for any and all financial expenses that I incur in my efforts to foster dogs for SPDR. Although SPDR may reimburse my expenses, I agree that each expense must be supported by receipts, must be pre-approved by the Breed Rep, and any expense over $400 for a single dog must also be pre-approved by the Board of Directors. I accept full responsibility for any expenses incurred by me that fall outside of approved expenditures. I will always remember that I represent a nonprofit organization and in no way can profit from any activity related to the organization. Agreed: I understand that SPDR cannot guarantee or be held responsible for the temperament, behavior, or health of foster dogs that I may handle. I am aware that foster dogs may cause damage to my personal property, other pets, and humans. I will keep dogs securely contained at all times while in my care. Agreed: I understand that it is my decision to foster dogs for SPDR. I will not hold SPDR liable for any damage, injury, or harm caused directly on indirectly through my fostering activities with SPDR. I carry insurance coverage in the event of personal liability damages resulting from fostering dogs for SPDR. Agreed: I understand that my foster volunteer position will be terminated if my conduct is deemed in opposition of the mission of SPDR, or detrimental to the best interests of SPDR. Agreed: I understand that this form must be received, approved, and acknowledged by SPDR before I may do any volunteer work for the organization, and that SPDR reserves the right to refuse my application.
